Jackie can see clearly for the first time in 20
years without glasses.
"It's the most phenomenal thing I have ever done," she enthuses about the latest form of refractive surgery. The LASIK procedure, performed by Dr. Moran, now helps patients with a wide range of vision problems: far-and nearsightedness as well as astigmatism. "There are very few who cannot be helped now by refractive surgery, thanks to this procedure," says Dr. M, who was one of the first Lehigh Valley physicians to be trained in the use of the excimer laser.
Jackie was nearsighted, legally blind without correction. It took minutes to go to near-perfect 20/30 vision, and one hour total for the entire prep and post-procedure process. She was amazed at the quick recovery time, too.
"There was no pain—I didn't even need Tylenol and I didn't miss any work. I had one eye done on Tuesday and the other on Wednesday. I went to the movies on Saturday and sat way in the back. Ironically it was that doctor movie, Patch Adams," she laughs.
Jackie is telling everyone she knows about her success. "If anyone could have it they should have it! I can't wait until summer to go to the beach," says the mother of a 12-year-old son, who's raring to go, too!
